all good - phrase music video

Yet again, we had our backs to the wall in producing this video clip. We smashed the entire production from writing to delivering the final master in 10 days. A video clip complete with 51 effects shots this was going to prove to be no easy task. The clip was shot by Joel Betts from Scarab Studios on his lovely RED camera. and a couple of shots on an EX3 with a canon 22x broadcast lens for the live shots.

The video was directed by Marcus Flack  and written by Dave Halliday (Dave wrote the last 2 Phrase clips and is currently finishing up a script for Liquid Creations first short film to be produced later this year - stay tuned).

We had to shoot the bike riding shots again due to being pulled over my some very friendly Melbourne cops that let us off with a warning. Shooting out the back of a hatchback down the middle of swan street Richmond with Phrase riding and syncing lyrics with no helmet...we were kind of asking for it. However in the end it worked out real well due to the better time of day we got to shoot in Fitzroy.

It was awesome to shoot at our favorite bar on Brunswick street - 'The Black Pearl' (Massive thanks to Tash for her last minute help with the venue). And what a treat catching Phrase in fine form at a sell out gig at the Corner hotel for live footage.

The crux of the clip was the effects shots which were pulled over some very late nights. Using motion tracking and particle generators we came up with a crazy look. The clip was originally going to use big pieces of glass with Phrase writing direct onto the glass. However in the end we thought we would have way more flexibility using no glass, and track the writing in post. YES we were correct...more flexibility...but OUCH...it took a while. But still, that's what we do here, we always want to push the boundaries of what we even think is possible. Check it out and see for yourselves!
