phrase - spaceship music video
|
Well, we have done it again. Another tight turnaround to produce another winner of a video clip for Universal Music’s Melbourne Hip Hop artist ‘Phrase’. After only recently completing his video for the song ‘Skylight’ featuring Kram from the band Spiderbait, we moved onto yet another adventure in the world of music videos.
Spaceship is a new track for Phrase off his forthcoming album Clockwork. Phrase raps about the grind of life and how he so desperately longs for something more. After seeing some of the images from his album photo shoot, we were keen to pick up on the character that Phrase had created of the everyday man dreaming of a better existence. We thought what better way to run with this concept than by creating an office environment that requires a jail break...everybody loves a jail break!
Props wise is was great fun. Phrase had a love for old school computers so we went on a hunt for the most ancient computers we could find. Keep an eye out for these awesome machines of old, especially Phrase's Commodore PET. (YES – pre Commodore 64)
At the end of the clip Phrase and his work colleagues (made up of an awesome variety of cast) emerge from the tunnel that Phrase dug in a Large open field (we shot this in the farm lands of Loch in South Gippsland). We got some stunning facial expressions from the cast whilst we shot super slow motion footage at 120 frames per second.
Shot on RED ONE, Simon Ozolins was again at the helm directing the photography. The Lomo Anamorphic lenses gave great depth and cinema like finish to the piece. David Schmidt was all over the production organising all manner of cast and props. This included a wholehearted effort to build a set piece that resembles an underground tunnel, right here in the Liquid Creations studio.
We look forward to what the clip brings down the track, for now sit back, watch and come along for the ride.
