  • BRIEF
  • Teaming up once again with Local Peoples and Giuseppe Demaio the task was as follows. Capture Rafael Nadal, push him into a portable van decked out with Nike branding, force him to put iron on numbers onto his nice green shirt. All before a herd of screaming women track him down and ruin the day.
  • SOLUTION
  • We wanted to tell the story of Rafa’s obsession / superstition with the numbers 1 and 9 as well as showing off Nike’s new Polo Van. This project was a great example of “ALWAYS PLAN FOR RAIN” when you are working with International superstars who you only have for 1 hour in their busy schedule.

The original plan for to film Rafa walking along South Bank in Melbourne up to the Polo Van parked just next to Queens Bridge. As you would expect the clouds got nasty on us and opened right up just as we got ready to roll camera. With some super quick thinking we mentioned the Open Channel studios, called them up, organised a whole bunch of lights and with-in 30 Liquid mins we had changed locations and were ready for Rafa and his entourage.

We used every second to our advantage during our super quick set up. Even watering the concrete down with 2 minutes to spare just for that little bit of extra zing. And the finished result wasn’t Schmancy but a little bit Fancy!
