  • BRIEF
  • Our fist collaboration with human rights lawyer and refugee advocate Jessie Taylor. Armed with a small grant, the brief was to make a low budget documentary that showed young people engaging in the topic of mandatory detention. It was important that the film be informative without being preachy.
  • SOLUTION
  • With long time friend and award winning DOP Adam Arkapaw contributing his skills we were able to shoot some really beautiful footage. We took five really different individuals with varying views on the issue of mandatory detention and inspired them to discuss the idea of being detained if you were a refugee. To add to the mix we took the group out to Baxter Detention Centre in South Australia so they could meet these so called ‘queue jumpers’ and ‘boat people’. Expert comments were added by long time refugee advocate Julian Burside QC and Australian of the year Pattrick McGorry. Heavily backed by a vibrant soundtrack,We Will Be Remembered For This‘ showcased many up and coming Australian artists such as Yanto Shortis, Justin Grounds, goodbyemotel, Marcel Borrack and the Morning Birds.
